Very small 4to, approximately 140 x 85 mm, 5½ x 3¼ inches, divisonal title page to second part, folding engraved plate of a chess board, pages: xxiv, 1-74; [2], 1-115, [1], last page blank, bound in half calf, gilt lettering and decoration to spine, marbled boards. Binding rubbed, upper hinge cracked but holding firmly on cords, slight shelf wear to edges and head and foot of spine, engraved plate has repair to fold, leaving a pale stain and a little damage with no loss plus 2 words in old ink in margin: "black" and "white" (see attached image), neat old ink name to title page and verso, 2 pages have minor marginalia, small ink splash to 1 page, inner paper hinge cracked, otherwise a very good copy.
