My Name Escapes Me : The Diary of a Retiring Actor

Tiny tear to bottom edge of back of D/J. Price clipped. Preface by John le Carre. Throughout Sir Alec Guiness's diaries, which cover the eighteen months till June 1966, certain interests and preoccupations recur: theatre and film, of course, but also books and paintings; the church, sometimes help up for amused observation, more often the focus of a personal faith; food and drink, whether fish 'n' chips and ice-cream with a group of fellow actors at the Posthouse Hotel in Cambridge or a solitary entrecote at the Connaught; and the delights of being at home with his wife in the Hampshire countryside - except on the odd occasion when an over-zealouse fan breaks through the boundary hedge to disrupt Sunday lunch. 214 pp.
