Previous owner's inscription on pastedown: "Charlotte Bedingfeld, [given me by my very] respected friend Sir Thomas Ussher (part of inscription scratched out). Possibly a gift from the author to Lady Charlotte Bedingfeld of Norfolk County. Green cloth covers have gilt lettering on spine and "J. C. Davant" stamped on the front cover. 2 1/4" burn-hole through front cover damages/stains text through page 40. Spine hinge split, edges of spine fraying. Covers are cockled and endleaves show indications of water damage. Endleaves have minimal pencil markings. Interior front hinge cracked. First signature is rather loose from binding and fore edges tattered. Flyleaf has large closed tear which has been repaired with archival tape. Except for the spot affected by the burn, text is clean and readable with no writing. Full refund if not satisfied. Seller Inventory # 013508
