An illustrated account of British naval operations and the naval experience of the First World War, presented in the attractive original blue cloth binding with gilt decoration and contrasting light-coloured spine. Special interest: This example contains a manuscript dedication and associated historical correspondence, with the recipient addressed as “dear Captain”. The handwritten material includes a reference dated 16 May 1937 and an accompanying letter on headed stationery from Bramling, Virginia Water, Surrey. The correspondence survives with the volume and offers an additional point of interest for collectors of maritime history and original historical ephemera. Neither the identity of the recipient nor the authorship of the handwritten correspondence has been independently verified. Illustrations: All illustrated plates are present. Binding: Original publisher’s decorative cloth. Condition: Fair to Good, with faults. Original covers show fading, rubbing, soiling and general edge wear. Front inner hinge weakened with visible separation along the gutter. Occasional foxing, discolouration and general signs of age and handling. Please examine accompanying photographs.
