Near the Bone

A very nice copy of the first edition, very near fine. Soft cover, glossy illustrated wraps, 9 5/8 x 7 1/2 inches, unpaginated. More great dog humor --- cartoons and caricatures from Ralph Steadman, including a letter from the post office about a nipping incident, Ralph's reply, and a letter from a doggy psychiatrist concerning Ralph's behavior, addressed to Ralph's wife, Anna. "Steadman on the Couch --- A letter from a leading dog psychiatrist to Ralph's owner Anna Steadman. Re: Ralph, British Bulldog X Welsh mongrel, male --- While Ralph is now more mellow than when you found him on the streets of south-west London, his aggressive defence of acquired advantage on high vantage points, such as on the sofa, demands that you maintain your height over him at all times. Never give up your advantage by meeting him a eye level and never bend over him, especially when he is working. This may be seen as a challenge and he may growl to warn you away." (1722RO005).
