From Mardy Grothe, the author of Ifferisms, Oxymoronica, and I Never Met a Metaphor I Didn’t Like, comes a new collection of witty and wise quotations about what never to do in life. Remember, “never let the fear of striking out get in your way” (Babe Ruth), "never hit anyone if you can help it, but never hit soft" (Theodore Roosevelt); "never be afraid to sit awhile and think" (Lorraine Hansberry); and, of course, never leave home without the perfect quote for any occasion from Dr. Mardy’s Neverisms.
What timeless wisdom can be found in the simple word ‘never’?
- Wit and Wordplay: Discover clever and paradoxical quips from wits and wags throughout history, exploring the lighter side of cautionary warnings.
- Words to Live By: Explore timeless wisdom on human relationships, business, politics, and family life from historical figures, artists, and literary giants.
- Hundreds of Famous Quotes: From Babe Ruth to Winston Churchill and Margaret Mead, find the perfect "neverism" for any occasion in one easy-to-navigate reference book.
- Fascinating Backstories: Go beyond the quotes themselves to learn the surprising history and context behind these classic pieces of advice, meticulously researched by Dr. Mardy Grothe.

Terms of sale
Each book in the inventory is noted as bargain, rare or new. Following is a brief description of each of these categories:
Bargain – new, unread books, but may have a mark on the top or bottom edges that would indicate they are a publisher overstock. They may be missing the dust jacket or show some signs of shelf wear or slight damage (e.g. slight dent on corner). Otherwise they will be in clean, unread condition.
New – As published, no defects.
Rare / Out of Print – new, unread and may or may not have some small condition issues; however, they are out of print and will be difficult to find. A few books in the rare category have 2 different prices. The condition of the book will dictate this. For example, one may be a publisher’s overstock with a mark on the edge and one may be new.
It is appreciated that purchasing on-line requires considerabe trust on your part. We will gladly send you a complete description of the condition of the book along with pictures prior to your decision to purchase.
