Hardcover book is still intact with tight and square binding and sound hinges. Paper-covered boards with leather spine (chipping, fading and wear to spine), wear-through to corner tips and board edges. Soiling to boards. Lovely old bookplate from Robert Miller's Circulating Library, Dundee (NY) on front pastedown. Text arranged in double columns. Some foxing throughout, but pages are otherwise surprising clean and legible. All pages are present, none are loose; front and rear endpaper intact. 294 pages. Just a taste of a few of the outstanding and interesting entries in this great old book: "The Speech of George Washington, President of the United States of America, to both Houses of Congress, December 7, 1796"; "Method of Preparing Opium from Poppies Grown in England" ; "His Majesty's Speech to both Houses of Parliament, May 19, 1796'; "Address of the City of London to his Majesty on the safe Delivery of the Princess of Wales and the Birth of a Princess"; "Address of George Washington, President, to the Citizens of the United States, on his intended Resignation"; sections on Poetry, Domestic Literature, and Foreign Literature of the year 1796.…
