Together two vols.: 64; 64pp., 12mo. Sixteen half-page engraved illustrations in each part; a single wormhole in Part II extends from p. 9 to the end, expanding over the last few leaves to touch a couple of illustrations and with loss of a few letters, the text entirely intelligible except for a few words in the publisher s advertisements on the lower wrappers. But for the wormhole an exceptionally nice set in the original stiff printed buff wrappers, these dated 1818 and with "Price One Shilling each Part." First edition of this revision, rare, ending with the American declaration of war against England in 1812 and the American defeats in Canada. The Dartons H1146, noting it as "a revision of the Newbery text," that text produced by Richard Johnson; the thirty-two dramatic engraved illustrations apparently are new. OCLC records the UCLA copy of both parts bound together without wrappers and Part I only with the 1818 wrappers at the British Library and Lilly; The Dartons adds Leeds University and the Spencer Collection for Part II.
