Item description from seller

Cwown8vo, [iv], 235; [iv], 251 p. Original green cloth, gilt floral pattern endpapers. A very good set. Very scarce first novel by this Dublin born author, only four copies on WorldCat, the two volume first edition not in the National Library of Ireland, only the cheap edition. She was on the staff of the Irish Times and was the daughter of the Chaplain to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. In his 'Irish Novelists and the Victorian' Age James H. Murphy writes 'her novels detail the dilemmas of women facing a new, freer but more uncertain world.'.
