The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Eric Partridge (1894-1979) was a New Zealand British lexicographer who specialised in English slang. In this work, he provides a glossary of obsolete, archaic and interesting terms used in the New Testament, exploring their historical associations and etymology. He also studies important personal and geographical names. A page of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, except for a small section of offsetting to the front free end paper. Dust wrapper is mostly very smart, excepting some sunning to the spine, and a little chipping to the head and tail of the spine. A small label covers the price to the front flap of the wrapper. Fine.
