The first edition, with the printing mistake to the illustrations index page, stating that the plate 'Coor' is on page 225, and not 213 was supposed to be.Illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, one map, and twenty-three plates.Collated, complete. One of the plates is not called for in the index, the plate titled 'Horns of Maarif Antelope'.An account of Samuel Baker's experiences on his expedition along the River Nile, a tour started in 1861 in Central Africa. He undertook his journey intending to discover the sources of the River Nile. He proved that the Nile sediment came from Ethiopia.This work looks into the their search for the source of the Nile.Written by Samuel Baker, who is best known for being the first European to visit Lake Albert. He was an abolitionist, engineer, and big game hunter, and he was the Governor-general of the Equatorial Nile Basin in the nineteenth century. Though he was renowned for being an explorer, he never received quite the same amount of acclamation that his contemporaries did. Queen Victoria refused to meet Baker, due to the way in which he met his wife; he had bought his wife, Florence, as a slave after they had fallen in love.Bookplate to the front paste down.
