Very little is known about Gaetano Asti, including his dates. He is also listed as the author of Relazione de' Funerali a Benedetto XIV (1758). Octavo. [42] pp. Engraved device on title page and fourteen engraved vignettes (depicting a flying machine, a satyr, Pegasus, etc.) and two tailpieces (the latter personifying the city of Bologna). Contemporary paste paper blue sprinkled boards with a gilt floral border. Binding extremities lightly rubbed. Small chip on crown of spine. Two small tears, one on the lower spine and the other at the foot of spine. Some light foxing and occasional small stains. Marbled endpapers. Bookplate of C.E. (Carlo Enrico) Rava on front end pastedown. A very good copy. First edition. A very rare collection of fourteen poems in honor of Conte Malvasia's successful term of office as Bologna's chief officer of justice. OCLC lists one copy, which is in France (Bibliotheque Nat. & Univ. Strasbourg). Carlo Enrico Rava (1903-1986) played an important role in the history of Italian architecture and design. He was a part of the "Gruppo 7," along with six fellow rationalist graduates of the Milan Polytechnic; their goal was to establish a new architecture based on logic and rationality. Enrico, along with the others, organized exhibitions in the following years and eventually achieved international acclaim. The group's celebrated Casa Elettrica, while no longer extant, is considered a benchmark of early 20th century Italian architecture. It is worth noting that Rava also wrote a great deal on various subjects including film, interior design, architecture, and furniture. Seller Inventory # 16231
