About this Item

This map uncoloured as issued. Measures; Approx 38 x 50 cm. Good wide margins, never been framed. Shows light creases from being folded incorrectly, these would flatten. A lovely period for a map of the American Continent, lots of name changes and unexplored places, with variant names for the newly discovered part and the central parts almost blank. Good to VG. Undated c1760-65. *The mapmaker was the son of Emanuel Bowen. Both father and son worked on maps together and they made some magnificent examples of land maps and atlas's between the 1740's-1780's . It would appear his career foundered after his father died. He died a pauper in Clerkenwell Poorhouse in London in 1790.

We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
