Stated "The English edition published 1956 in two volumes" on copyright page, no other printings listed. Solid text block, some spotting to top edge of binding on both volumes. Occasional marginalia throughout text. In the publisher's dust jacket, $10.00 retail price for the set listed on front flap. Some chipping and short closed tears to edges of jackets, faint transference to versos. A vibrant example of the English translation of Simone Weil's writings. Simone Weil (1909-1943) was a French philosopher, mystic, and social activist known for supporting trade union movements and the efforts of the working class.
