Dust Jacket Is Second Issue Identical To First Issue, Except Price-Clipped Where Original 7S6p Was Printed At Lower Front Flap, With New 2'6P Price Printed At Foot Of Flap (Satty & Smith, For A6.1.1.4, Say That This Is A Printed Price Label But It Is Printed Directly On The Jacket On This Copy), And Has A Printed Paper Label From The Publisher "3' Net" Over The 2'6P Printed Price. This Pricing And Labeling Of The Dustjacket Is Not Listed In Satty & Smith's Definitive Bibliography. [Satty & Smith's A6.1.1.4, First Edition, First Impression, Third Issue Of 24 Sept 1936, 360 Copies, Has This Binding With A 3'6P Price Printed At The Foot Of The Front Flap; The Fourth Issue 9 March 1939, 555 Copies, Has The First Issue Binding, And Includes The Later Ads, In A Dj With A New Price Label Of 2'6P Attached To The Front Flap. This Unrecorded Issue Probably Occurred Between These Two Issues.] A Very Good + , Tight Example, Clean And Unfaded, Hinges Tight, No Fraying Or Marks; Lightly Foxed On Endpapers, Title, And First Page, A Few Tiny Spots In Rest Of Book. Dust Jacket In Blue, Pink, White, Tan, And Black Has What Is Reportedly Stapledon's Own Striking Bust-Length Design For The Eric Fraser Illustration Of The Title Character. The Dj Has Some Edge Wear And Aging, Small Chips Or Nicks At Corners And Tips, With Irregular Chipping Along Top Of Spine From 1/16" To 1/4" Deep, Particularly Ar Corners. There Is A 1" Closed Tear At Top Edge, And A 3/4" Closed Tear At Bottom Edge, Each With Some Associated Vertical Creases But Virtually No Chipping. The Pink Background And Word "Odd" On The Spine Are Faded.
