The music is in round notes.Lucien H. Southard (1827-1881), b. Sharon, Vermont; d. Augusta, Georgia. Southard was the music director at First Church in Boston, and after service in the Union Army was made director of the Conservatory of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, organizing and directing their orchestra. He was also the first director of the Baltimore Academy of Music.
