Bell with course map in program including hole descriptions by Mr. Bell. Host Club Professional Leo Diegel also contributes an article. During the Prohibition Era, the border city of Tijuana Mexico was a magnet for thirsty Americans. Gangsters including Bugsy Siegel built a lavish resort in 1928, with the famous horse racing track and golf course opening in 1930. This was the grand opening tournament for the now fully built resort. Significantly, the tournament offered the largest cash purse ever played for, $25,000 with $10,000 going to the winner! What a payday one year after the market crash of 1929. The tournament had a six-year run. Winners from 1930 through 1935 were Gene Sarazen, Johnny Golden, Fred Morrison, Paul Runyan, Wiffy Cox, and Henry Picard. THIS PROGRAM OWNED BY 1932 TOURNAMENT WINNER, FRED MORRISON, COMING FROM THE ESTATE OF HIS BROTHER, ALEX MORRISON, FAMED GOLF INSTRUCTOR AND AUTHOR. The Morrison brother were all golf professionals, Fred being the best tournament player. Interesting to note that the 1935 Tournament winner, Henry Picard was a star pupil of Alex Morrison. Beautifully designed program. The front cover has one, one-inch spot where something is adhered, light edge wear (typical as the covers are larger than the contents pages), slight damp stain upper page near spine page one, else clean throughout. Laid in is a lavish Agua Caliente 1930 menu and blank mailing envelope and sheet of Hotel notepaper. Covers protected in mylar. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Seller Inventory # 204261
