About this Item
Genuine First Edition ( 'Published, October. 1907 ', as well as SD). Very nice looking covers, very clean. Light fading on the spine, a tiny spot or two of rubbing on the gilt lettering there. A few spots of minor color loss on the rear cover. All of the cover edges are in top-notch condition, no rubbing. The corners look terrific as well. The spine ends are free of wear, no crinkling. The page edges are clean. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. They did a good job. The book is quite solidly bound. There is only one instance of a thin space, it's at the juncture between the frontispiece and title page, coming down just a couple of inches from the top edge. The covers are nicely tight. There's a tissue guard between the frontispiece and title page. It's in very good shape. The interior of the book looks very good. The pages are very clean. I turned over all them and found only a few instances of a light spot. I didn't see any conspicuous creasing, no placeholder creases. There are no markings anywhere. There is one attachment, a 'This Book Belongs To' bookplate on the front inside cover. No name is written on it. Both the front and rear blank end papers, as well as the rear inside cover, have smooth tan rectangular shapes, likely left by the one-time presence of a loose newspaper clipping. There is only one instance of writing. Off the top edge of the front inside cover the following is penned lightly: 'Property of Mrs. Edward Upton, 42 Locust St., Marblehead, Mass, August, 1941.' The book has four color illustrations by Dan Sayre Groesbeck. They are all in very nice condition. I have priced the book, by far, as the least expensive first edition for sale anywhere on the Internet despite its being in very good condition. Seller Inventory # 005419
