First edition. Octavo. 4 color plates by Dan Sayre Groesbeck. Original gilt stamped red cloth slight fading to spine. No dust jacket. Fine. 279 pages. With a fine ink drawing on front free endpaper of a mounted Indian warrior on his pony, signed by Deming. Inscribed and signed by Deming and by his wife "with best wishes for a pleasant voyage from your friends Edwin Willard Deming, Theresa O. Deming." Laid in is an Autograph Letter on Deming's pictorial 5 MacDougal Alley, New York City letterhead December 14, 1908, Signed, from Deming's wife to Mr./Mrs. J. Cunningham who were on board the steamship Lusitania. Together with envelope. Deming (1860-1942) was an American artist. Charles Alexander Eastman (1858-1939), born Redwood Falls, Minnesota, died Detroit, Michigan. Sioux Indian physician, author of 13 books, and social reformer. He and his family ran a summer camp for children in New Hampshire from 1915-1921. Seller Inventory # 309186
