First Illustrated Edition. 8vo (22 cm); Publisher's teal cloth with titles stamped in silver gilt on spine; marlin print in silver gilt on cover, red topstain, illustrated endpapers; dust jacket with yellow and teal illustration and titles in red; 117pp. Overall clean and tight throughout, corners and edges show shelf wear and minor bumps, a hint of foxing on endpapers and foredge. Dust jacket intact and unclipped, small closed tears on edges, wear on spine hinge, small chip at tail of spine. Published in the UK a year after the true first edition and the same year Hemingway was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the book, this is the first illustrated edition. Two artists were commissioned for the illustrations and both were so superb, the publisher decided to include both sets in the final work.
