A first edition copy of W.S. Symonds work on geology, bound decoratively by Bone & Son. A lovely copy of W.S. Symonds's series of lectures on geology. Beautifully bound in red cloth by Bone & Son; their binder's plate can be found on the rear pastedown. W.S. Symonds was Rector of Pendock, and dedicated this book to the members of Malvern, Woolhope, and Cotteswolde Natural History Field Clubs. It is a published series of his lectures on plutonic, Silurian, and Devonian rocks that can be found in these areas. There is a lovely frontispiece illustrating a diagram of these types of rocks. This is an ex-library book, and library stamps can be found throughout: 'Department of Geology, University of Reading' and 'Hereford Permanent Library, Instituted A.D. 1815'. Bound in red cloth by Bone & Son. Externally, very smart with some bumping to head and tail of spine as well as corners. A few marks to the spine, but good colour. Library stamps to the front and rear pastedowns, the recto of one of the front free-endpapers, and to the verso of the title page. Binder's plate to the rear pastedown. Internally, hinges slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages contain a few scattered spots, but otherwise clean. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 784J8
