First English edition, translated from French 1995 edition. HB. Laminated colour photo-illustrated boards, no dustjacket as issued. 480pp. Illustrated throughout with 812 colour photos in the text, as well as a few colour illustrations and drawings by Elizabeth Klopfenstein. Includes keys to genera and groups of orchids. Introductory sections on biology, classification etc. This copy belonged to the ecologist and ornithologist Bryan Sage- his bookplate inside front cover. Very Good copy. Slight colour fade to spine, bumps to corners. Clean pages with light yellowing to front endpaper; a couple of pages at back have adhered (glossy paper) and in pulling apart have left very small abrasions to text.
