About this Item

Description:

1933. First edition. x, [i], 60pp., 8 blank pages for notes, and an erratum slip tipped-in on page 5. There are 8 pages of advertisements (aimed at those heading to India) at the start of the book. This book is based on a pamphlet prepared for the guidance of young officers about to proceed to India for the first time. The first part of the book contains information on pre-embarkation arrangements, embarkation, the voyage, disembarkation, and the journey up-country. The second part is devoted to the selection of kit, a scheme for packing, packing lists, and the labelling of baggage. Appendices contain a list of kit for purchase out east, a summary of customs regulations, and a time-table for rail journeys from Bombay and Karachi to the Principal military stations in India. The book is bound in the original grey-green canvas covered boards with a paper title label on the front board. The case of the book is in very gooid condition with some shelf wear and light soiling on the boards and fading to the spine. There is a little damage to the cloth on the top 1/2" of the rear spine edge. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the front free endpaper. Seller Inventory # gIndia21
