Original Linleim Block Print, Apparently Published Circa 1925-1935 In A Portfolio Of Large Sheets 18" X 13 1/2", Printed On One Side Only, With Title Of Each And Text "Original+Linolschnitt E. Jansen-Winkeln" At Bottom Right. Ernst Johann Jansen-Winkeln (1904-1992) Was A German Artist Working Primarily In Expressive Realism, Who Is Best Known For His Church Art. He Did Expressionist Church Painting , Designed Stained-Glass Windows And Liturgical Objects. Originally He Became Known With Religious Woodcuts , Which Were Printed In Catholic Magazines. Jansen-Winkeln Was Close To The Youth Movement ( See Catholic Youth Movement ). Some Woodcuts Also Addressed The Worker. This Was Partly Due To The Fact That Jansen-Winkeln Grew Up In The Industrial Town Of Mönchengladbach And Secondly, The Worker Was Glorified At That Time; The Motif Of The Worker Also Appears In The Church Painting Of Jansen-Winkeln, For Example, In His Main Work, The Painting Of The Church In Sistig / Eifel. From 1929 Ernst Johann Jansen-Winkeln Studied At The Kölner Werkschulen And Probably In The Department: Kölner Institut Für Religiöse Kunst . Jansen-Winkeln Did Not Only Paint During The Nazi Era, But Also During The War. In 1942 He Became A Soldier And War Participant, Which Is Why He Was Nokt Able To Resume And Finish The Painting Of The Church Of Sistig Until 1945-. In This Painting He Also Included Themes About Ending Dictatorship And The War. The Sistiger Church Is Perhaps The Only One In Which Hitler Is Painted On The Wall, But Not To Glory Him, But To Depict Him As Pacting With Demons . In Terms Of Art History, Ernst Jansen-Winkeln Is One Of The Missing Generation And Expressive Realism . (Source: German Wikipedia).…
