This is a fascinating original Prisoners Discharge Document "rap sheet", for a Ann Hinton a Dressmaker from Dudley, Staffordshire, born in 1834 here discharged on Licence from Aylesbury Prison on 15th June 1901 and released aged 67 into the Dudley Police District, after being convicted for Larceny, the recorded records on the document show she was an habitual petty criminal, this being her latest imprisonment in a long line of previous recorded convictions and prison sentences dating back to 1873. The first recorded offence was in September 1873 for Stealing Brushes for which she got a 6 month prison sentence with Hard Labour, then in January 1879 for stealing a bed quilt for which she got a 7 year prison sentence, then not long after her release in October 1886 she was caught Housebreaking and sentenced to a further 6 months, in June 1889 she was imprisoned again for two months for stealing a towel, and only months after her release was sentenced again, this time for 5 Years in October 1889 for yet another petty theft, there were further convictions for stealing a Shawl, Drunkenness, Stealing Carpets, all the court appearances were either at Dudley for "Petty Sessions", or at Worcester for "County Sessions". The document includes two Mug Shot Photographs, as well as a list of her previous convictions, there are records of her "Distinctive Marks or Peculiarities" the whole being signed by the Prison Governor, the printed reverse side of the document has not used, the sheet measuring 13 inches by 8 inches, it shows edge tears and creasing else in good general condition.
