About this Item
Small quarto in orange illus jacket; 192 pages. Anglo-Indian scholar "Beram Saklatvala (1911-1976), son of Shapurji Saklatvala, was a British archaeologist and historian known for his work on the ancient Near East, particularly the civilizations of Mesopotamia and Persia. He was born into the prominent Saklatvala family, which had roots in India and significant ties to the UK. Saklatvala was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He developed an interest in archaeology and history, focusing his studies on the ancient civilizations of the Near East. He conducted archaeological excavations in Iraq and Iran and published several works on the history and archaeology of these regions. Despite his contributions to the field, Saklatvala is perhaps less well-known than some of his contemporaries [due possibly to racism?] . However, his work added to the understanding of ancient Near Eastern civilizations and their impact on the development of human society."- Bing. / Ethnologie -- Grande-Bretagne. Ethnology.
