Extremely scarce 1920 First Edition published by M. A. Donohue & Company. Brown buckram cover on this hardback with red and black titling on the front cover. Front cover also as drawing of C24 military equipment from World War I. Book is starting to pull away from the spine, especially at front end paper. Former owner's name in pencil on the front end paper; next page has a gift inscription dated 1921. Book cover has some shelf wear. Some browning of pages, but other than noted pencil owners and gift marks, book is clean all the way in the interior. The Argonne Forest battle (Meuse-Argonne Offensive) was one of the largest operations involving American forces during World War I. The story is fictional but rooted in real events, reflecting the style of "pulp" war narratives intended to both entertain and inspire loyalty to the American war effort.
