156, [4] pp. 8vo. Original illustrated wrappers by S. Lemekhov. Very good / near fine. The first Russian edition of A Clockwork Orange, published in May 1991 (the month before the collapse of the Soviet Union). The challenge for the translator was to handle Burgess s unique fictional register, so-called Nadsat. In Nadsat (derived from the Russian for "teen") all the words had a Russian origin and double meanings. A.Boshniak decided to give these words in Roman characters without translating them in an attempt to replicate for Russian readers the experience of English readers. Seller Inventory # 13
