Original green cloth with black gilt titled cover; "7th Indiana Infantry in the War for the Union, much of which I saw, some of which I was, by O. Thomson. Co. G." CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Light rubbing to edges and spine ends and along spine; cover lightly soiled. Interior is clean and tight. With clear, mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The 7th Indiana Regiment was reorganized and mustered in at Indianapolis on 13 September 1861, with Ebenezer Dumont as colonel. A long-serving Indiana regiment, it participated at the Battle of Philippi on June 3, 1861. It later saw heavy service as part of the noted Indiana Brigade, in the Shenandoah Valley and Virginia, participating in Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and the siege of Petersburg. When its enlistment time ran out in 1864, it was consolidated first with the 19th Indiana, then with the 20th. This publication, the product of the author's own work relies on over 100 letters, including his own and others, plus the diary of Lt. Gageby.
