Stated First Edition. BRAND NEW & Collectible. Author signed gift dedication. Some 150 years ago in 1854 a quildting frame in Ludow, Vermont held a bridal friendship quilt in the making for her younger sister, Ellen Spaulding Reed. The quilt bore 65 inscriptions in old-style calligraphy. This quilt fell in the hands of the author who, with great resolve, spend twelves years, persued the identity of the seamstresses and even found that some of the pieces of cloth used could be traced to Ellen's dresses, her father's shirts, and even her grandmother's apron. The volume is a fascinating geneological study and what held great meaning in times past.
