Dark stippled cloth with blind-stamped decorative borders and gilt spine lettering, clean but spine ends rubbed and slightly chipped, tiny hole to mid-spine and thin 1cm tear centre front joint, slight routine corner bumping. Half-title with two other works by Thompson listed verso + xiii (inc. prelims) + 374 + 40 (pub's 1867 list of Medicine and Natural Science publications, all in decorative borders), 85 text engravings of surgical instruments etc. Prev. owner's sig. to half-title dated January14/11, binder's small label bottom inner corner rear pastedown. Lithotrity refers to procdures in which the stone is broken up and powdered in situ enabling natural elimination and avoiding surgical removal. Apparently rare. 14.5 cm x 22.5 cm.
