Vol.1:xi+454+(2, book notices), Vol.2: v+355+(2, book notices), numerous unnumbered text figs & diagrams in both vols.; previous owner's small gilt labels top pastedowns otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked, both covers clean and unworn but spines patchily faded and darkening along front edges; clipped jackets clean, though brown spotting to backs, but fairly extensively chipped. Vol.1 has a strip missing from centre top back across entire front, nearly but not quite touching spine and front cover lettering, bottom spine also chipped, Vol.2. much better but still has substantial chip to top spine and minor one to top back outer corner. Both jackets now sealed in protective wrappers and despite condition actually look quite good. A relatively scarce work especially with jackets in any condition. Hardly orthodox history being infused with Spearman's own theoretical views and ideas, but for valuable for historians of Psychology and theories of intelligence/cognition.
