Color frontispiece plus three other color plates and numerous illustrations within text. More than 200 b/w images in rear plate section. Davis reviews the social history of packaging, the materials of packaging including pottery, glass, paper, foil, wood, cardboard, and metal, as well as package design. Bibliography. Index. Although the book favors British labeling designs, there are numerous American examples as well.
