About the Author

Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire in 1926 and was educated at Presentation College, Reading. He served in the Royal Air Force and the British Army before working as a BBC cameraman for 19 years. Michael has twice been recognised for his services to children's literature: in 1997 he was awarded an OBE and in 2002 he was honored in an exhibition at The National Portrait Gallery in London, celebrating a century of children's authors. He lives in London.
