Hardcover leather (brown) over boards. Large 4to. Unpaginated (roughly 396 pp). Unillustrated. Six compartment spine with five raised ribs. Red leather label with short title stamped in gilt in compartment two; gilt floral ornaments in the other compartments. Single line border with floral corners stamped in gilt on front and back boards. Gilt dentelle on the board edges and interior. Marbled endpapers. Edges stained red. Inscription on editor's page before the half-title dated 1877. Text block is clean, bright, unmarked, and square with a strong binding. The spine and boards are shelf worn -- some of the red stain has come off the foot, as well as some of the gilt dentelle from the edges. Leather is cracked on the spine and in the hinges, and flaking away from the fore edge. Back board rubbed. A good copy overall.
