In a very good condition red slip case. No dust jacket as issued, very good condition dark blue cloth covered hardboards, with illustrated paper panel front cover, with gilt title on spine, no inscriptions, on page 61 is a imprint from a bookmark with a small stain on the top of the text block clean text, small dint to slip case back, tight binding, illustrated throughout with colour images, 298pp. From the Preface: "It is, however, the singular achievement of Simone Roux with this book to have restored the medieval as a living reality for us rather than as the object of nostalgia. It is all the more important that she has done so with the eye of a poet and an archaelogist.
