A comprehensive history of the various Paterson Colt pistol variations with historical background on the Paterson, NJ, era of production of Samuel Colt's revolving-cylinder repeating pistols. The first section covers the pistols, models, calibers, serial numbers, and loading levers and includes sections on the Ehlers Pistols, pocket Patersons, belt Patersons, and holster Patersons. The historical section includes biographical information on Samuel Colt, his legal battles with the US government, his role as a salesman, his debts and accounts payable, and awards and newspaper coverage as well as his relationships with Dudley Selden, John Ehlers, Pliny Lawton, and C.B. Zabriskie. Text by Philip R. Phillips and R.L. Wilson; foreword by James E. Serven. SIGNED BY WILSON and inscribed to a former employee of Meriden Gravure, the printer, who assisted in the production of the book.
