Grey buckram with full-color pasted paper cover illustration of a small girl, pink and black flowers. Light rubbing to all edges, bump to head and heel of spine. Previous owner gift inscription dated 1918 England. Text is otherwise clean and bright, no marks. Frontispiece and wonderful illustrations throughout by Harold Copping. "The New Zealand authoress Isabel Maud Peacocke, who has the gift of sympathetically limning child nature as in her new book created a lovable child personality surrounded by a little company of interesting people. It is a story that everyone will read with interest, for though it has a child as the pricipal figure, there is also a charming grown up heroine, around whom a fascinating love-story is woven. It is just a glimpse of happy refined family life which is revealed. A family which is set in a little by-way of a New Zealand town, clinging to the old home in spite of tempting offers to dispose of it. There is the gentle old mother and the quaintly charming little girl who introduces herself to those whom she takes a fancy as 'Patricia - Pat' this being an intimation that, although she has to own the more formal name, her friends may call her Pat."
