Longfellow’s poem, "Paul Revere’s Ride," has been published in many forms and illustrated in many ways—and even sometimes with alternative titles—but in this case it is as a stand-alone hardback picture book by renowned illustrator Joseph Low, who wrote an introduction as well as created the book’s design and illustrations. Low was a freelance illustrator who may best be known for the covers he drew for the "New Yorker," starting in 1940. But his style lent itself particularly well to children’s picture books, as seen by his total output: the Library of Congress lists 65 titles with him as either illustrator and author or illustrator alone, with all but a few designed for children. He was awarded a Caldecott Honor in 1981 for his work on the book "Mice Twice." This copy of "Paul Revere’s Ride" is in excellent shape, with only an ink inscription on the front free end paper and very small hand written pencil price in the upper corner of that same page keeping us from listing it in "Fine" condition. The dust jacket shows some water damage on the front, making the jacket’s condition Very Good; any staining is virtually indistinguishable from the gray mottled watercolor background that is part of the artist’s design. The text block is tight and there are no missing or loose pages, nor any tears or creases. This is a first printing of the first edition. A nice addition for any collector. See our photos. …

Shipping terms
All books are shipped bubble-wrapped and boxed so they arrive in perfect condition. Each book shipped domestically is tracked. Shipping charges and delivery times are based on United States Postal Service estimates--the USPS says its estimates for international shipping times are based on shipping to "many major markets," so please bear that in mind if you do not live in a large city. If you order more than one item through us, the extra books will receive a 25% discount on shipping. If an order has special shipping requirements, such as if it is over-sized, we will contact the buyer with a request for extra charges before further processing.
Multi-volume book sets: When it comes to the cost of shipping, books that are multi-volume sets are usually treated as if the customer had ordered more than one item: that is, the first volume costs full price, with the extra volumes receiving a 25% discount. For example, a three-volume set will cost $10--$4 for the first volume, $3 for each of the other two volumes. The exception may be very large sets, such as encyclopedias. Those will have special requirements and we will contact the buyer about the shipping costs before processing the sale.
