About this Item
A first illustrated edition of this collection of short stories focusing on wildlife by notable nature author Henry Williamson, with illustrations by C. F. Tunnicliffe. The first illustrated edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Ink inscription to the front free end paper. Henry Williamson (1895-1977) was an English writer primarily concerned with wildlife, English social history and ruralism. His book Tarka the Otter won the Hawthornden Prize for literature. In this work are eleven tales concerning nature with delightful engravings by C. F. Tunnicliffe. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with just a little shelf wear to the head of the spine and a very faint mark to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some offsetting to the end papers. Dust wrapper is chipped to the head and tail of the spine and darkened to the spine, with a couple of small stains to the rear of the wrap. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 854M29
