Bound in maroon cloth, title stamped in gilt on the spine which is dulled. First Edition, published in 1923 with no additional printings listed. A few unopened leaves, clean text throughout, a very good plus copy. In an original dust jacket priced at $1.75; with heavy chipping to the bottom of the rear panel. 1" across the bottom of the rear panel. Chipping to the top and bottom of the spine ends and to the top center of the front panel. Uncommon iin jacket at this price. John D. Rockefeller Jr. (1874-1960) was an American financier and the only son of John D. Rockefeller. Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil Company in 1870, which he ran until 1897. At its peak, Standard Oil controlled 90% of all oil in the United States, making the Rockefeller family the richest American family of all time. Rockefeller Jr. was one of the largest real estate holders in midtown Manhattan, with the construction of Rockefeller Center in 1931.
