Original first edition volumes cleaned, leaving the gilt edge of the previous re-binding intact; and very finely rebound in 2004 by E. Hamilton of Oxford. Headbands replaced with identical bands, spine-linings replaced with mull, hand- made paper and Kraft paper, adding an Oxford Hollow. Silk ribbons added. Copies have been made of the original decorated front cover and used on both volumes. Endpapers made of stong laid paper, 3mm boards covered in Bookbinding Canvas. Printed labels on hand-made paper. The front boards are framed, allowing for the inset of the illustration. Edges bevelled. in short - very finely bound copies of first editions - for lovers of beautifully bound books and of George du Maurier. Further scans on request. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
