See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1863 publication in full leather binding. Exterior is in very poor shape with the front board fully detached. Leather is worn and soiled and there are multiple old tape repairs across the spine. Interior binding is good for the text portion of the pages but the front free end pages are detached. Paper shows toning due to age and minor scattered foxing and spotting is present though end pages and pastedowns are quite darkened. Signed on the title page by Henry Hice of Beaver County, PA. The lower right corner of the title page also contains Mr. Hice's embossed attorney seal. In addition, front pastedown and end page shows the name stamp of Henry Hice and the rear pastedown is stamped with his son's name: Agnew Hice, also of Beaver PA. Henry Hice was a well known attorney for almost 50 years and for 11 years he was a judge of the 36th Judicial District of Pennsylvania. He eventually returned to practice and was joined by his son, Agnew Hice, at which the firm was renamed Hice & Hice. This book is considered to be in poor condition due to the exterior problems in the detached end pages. All text pages are attached and complete. Uncommon to find in original printing in the unique signature and ownership history makes this a good candidate for rebinding. Note: this is the original publication from the 1800s and not a modern reprint. This is volume 4 only as each volume was published independent of each other and over a range of multiple years.
