Unique photo album created as a gift to document work by the California Forest & Range Experiment Station, U.S. Forest Service. _____ Hand bound in stiff cardboard with a cord spine tie and manuscript titling. _____ Presumably both giver and recipient were marooned over the winter at one of the sites depicted, doing snow observation work. _____ The album has six (3.75 x 5.75") photos held in with mounting corners._____ Three are from Big Creek (office, gas station & No. 6 dam) and three from Teakettle Creek (Snowshoe cabin, No.2 dam & No. dam)._____ The backs are blank, _____ Laid in are 12 additional photos (4 x 5.75") of camp structures and activities. _____ These are rubber stamped on the back with the rubber stamped slug of the CF&RES, crediting the photos in manuscript to Karl J. Bermel (?)._____ In addition there are manuscriptes indicating the date taken (1940-1) and identifying the scene._____ . _____ Two are summer scenes of the dam at Big Creek, one of these is somewhat faded._____ There are nine from Teakettle Creek, four in summer and five in deep winter. _____ Finally, there is one more CF&RES photo, captioned on the back "Shelter cabin No.3 / Top of Patterson Mtn". _____ We include two unidentified snapshots that came with the album. _____ The front cover hinge is fragile._____.
