Description:
199 p., 6 pages of adverts. The landmark treatise on photography by H.P. Robinson, especially attractive for the four mounted photographs and numerous gravures. The first photograph - the frontispiece - looks like a carbon print and shows two adorable little girls looking at a book. The second photograph (opposite p. 109) is an albumen photograph of a barefoot young girl holding a water jar on her shoulder. The third photograph, opposite p. 196 - is a carbon process photograph of a group entitled "autumn". The text states it is a combination picture. The fourth at the end of the book is an albumen print - a portrait of a young girl. The book is bound in its original green cloth with embossed rules and gilt decoration. Binding is worn and frayed at the edges and corners, stained, and almost detached at the spine (both boards) - some pages are loose. Text block is quite clean with just a little bit of occasional foxing and stains. Seller Inventory # 000398
