Likely First American Edition (1881) from Edward L. Wilson publishers bound in embossed red cloth with gold lettering on spine. Covers show some fading, rubbing, scuffing and other age related wear. Spine shows some darkening, scuffing and fading of lettering. Edges show some light rubbing, scuffing and fraying and lower, back outside corner is lightly bumped. Pages are browned from age but in fantastic condition. Gift inscription in pen on cover page "To A.H. Elliot with regards from Edward S. Wilson".
