First Edition thus. Large 8vo. Original pictorial cloth, lettered and decorated in red and black to upper board and spine. An illustrated companion volume to The Strand Magazine of London, comprising a wide range of pictorial and historical subjects typical of the Newnes publications of the period. Illustrated throughout with photographic and engraved plates by various artists. This volume includes a photo portrait of Sir John Tenniel, the primary illustrator for "Alice in Wonderland," as well as photos of St. Andrew's library.

Contents clean and unmarked, with light age toning and occasional handling marks; plates well preserved. Binding is sound and firm. Some rubbing and wear to extremities, with light marking to boards and mild fraying at spine ends.
