An illustrated companion volume to The Strand Magazine, comprising a wide range of pictorial and historical subjects typical of the Newnes publications of the period. Illustrated throughout with photographic and engraved plates by various artists.

Publisher?s original pictorial cloth, lettered and decorated in red and black to upper board and spine. Some rubbing and wear to extremities, with light marking to boards and mild fraying at spine ends. Internally clean and sound, with light age toning and occasional handling marks; plates well preserved.

A representative example of a Strand-associated illustrated volume, reflecting late Victorian visual culture and the popular appetite for photographic and engraved imagery.
