A very scarce souvenir book of Hong Kong at the turn of the 20th century. Comprising 24 plates with tissue guard captions showing different views of Hong Kong, Canton & Macaeo in the early twentieth century. The photographs show the harbour, Kowloon, the Royal Naval Hospital, The HongKong Club, The Race Course, Mount Austin and many other tourist spots.In the original cloth boards.Inscription to the recto of front endpaper, 'Brought home for Mother with love 1900 H L Bowerbank'. In the original full silk covered printed boards. Externally, some fraying to the cloth at the board edges and spine. Lacking spine. Hinges are tender. Former owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. First plate is lacking the folding flap which forms half of the image and therefore the edges of this leaf are frayed. Small marginal wormhole at the foot of plate 23. Minor insect predation to the lower margin of the paper guard to plate 24. Occasional light spots. Good. Seller Inventory # 784L4
