Bound in the publisher's original bright red cloth, lettered in gilt to spine. No dustjacket, copies in jacket are noted as uncommon for this title. Condition Very Good; binding square and tight, cloth bright with only minor wear at extremities, light age-toning to endpapers, text and plates clean throughout.

The front free endpaper carries a pencil ownership inscription, Edward Alden Jewell, New York, 1946; Jewell being the art editor of the New York Times from 1936 to 1947. Both endpapers also bear the small printed bookplate of Mira & Victor Spark, New York art dealers. The first and long the only monograph in English on this singular Florentine Renaissance painter.
